Punjab government’s secret weapon
We have learnt that the Punjab government is funneling taxpayers’ money on a mega-classified project. And no, it has nothing to do with development of the province or even campaigning. This heavily funded secret project has only one objective that is to investigate and comb through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accountability with the aim of digging dirt on the KP government and therefore Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, PTI.
In order to achieve its goal the Punjab government is using media as their basic tool. We know that the Punjab government has recruited media experts and civilians to expose the wrongdoings of the KP government and plan on developing research papers for this purpose.
From the provincial government quarters, the Office of the provincial Director General Public Relations, DGPR, is housing and running the whole operation with support from key officials i.e., provincial Secretary of Information, provincial government spokesman and CM adviser Shoaib bin Aziz.
Whether or not Punjab government will be able to corner Imran Khan by exposing corruption scandals in KP governance and thus damage PTI, it is setting a bad precedent by compromising citizens’ funds on party interests.
The ground beneath Sattar’s feet
Farooq Sattar found himself in hot water in recent days when his authority in MQM-P, as convener, became a contested issue, when the Raabita Committee, Liaison Committee nominated Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui over Sattar. The Election Commission Pakistan though came to his aid and stated that as the party registration is in Sattar’s name, the right to award party tickets would remain with him.
But this doesn’t resolve MQM-P’s internal issue of trust for Sattar. His recent decision to award Senate’s ticket to Tessori has, among other matters, irked his colleagues. His party members have voiced criticism of Sattar’s decisions lately, contesting Sattar’s demand for greater power within his party.
According to our source, the strings of the Raabita Committee are in other hands than Sattar at the moment. Our source tells us that the revolt against Sattar was spearheaded by none other MQM London office.
Sattar Bhai is treading on eggshells. Better be ware. Altaf Bhai is still here.
